Discussion

The meeting was held from 11 am to 1 p.m. The
discussion was carried out between the attendees, discussing the role of
each sector in smoking control, with stress on the role of media.
Dr. Aisha discussed the importance of the
multisectorial approach on smoking control as a public health problem and
how to tackle it differently. Also, stressing on university activity in
the field of non-smoking and the importance enforcing the already
available and declared laws which concern smoking.
- Also, a
discussion was carried out between the different members attending the
meeting, about how each sector can strengthen the other. For example, to
what extent ESPRI can provide the media with sound information concerning
smoking to be suitable for different target populations. |

A
recommendation was given at the end of the meeting regarding smoking to
put it among the priorities of public health problems. Also, the means of
enforcing the laws and put them into action. |
